Artwork Guidelines

right tab corner

There are limitations to any print process, especially in the corrugated paperboard industry as it relates to flexo direct printing and litho laminated labels.  In general, artwork that will be printed has certain needs and specifications that should be met to ensure the highest possible quality and result.  The following guidelines should help to avoid the most common pitfalls when preparing artwork, consequently avoiding costly delays in the overall development process.

Direct Print Flexo:

- an EPS die line will be made available to register your artwork, if necessary.
- keep all graphic elements away from structural edges or scores by a minimum of 1/4" (6mm).
- where graphic elements exceed structural lines, ensure bleeds exceed 3/8" (10mm).
- when considering a second colour, keep colours separated by a minimum of 1/4" (6mm).
- if two colours need to meet, bleed colours by a minimum of 1/4" (6mm).
- be mindfull that overlapped links may mix and create undesirable combinations.
- when incorporating half-tones, be aware that this process is limited to a 35 line screen.

example of shifting during printing process

Shifting occurs during the printing process.  As a result, consideration must be given to how the graphics will register to the structural design and/or to another colour.

Litho Label:

- an EPS die line will be made available to register your artwork.
- keep all graphic elements away from structural edges or scores by a minimum of 1/4" (6mm).
- where graphic elements exceed structural lines, ensure bleeds exceed 3/8" (10mm).
- although we encourage generous bleeds, avoid areas that are to be glued.
- for large, solid coverage areas, consider choosing a spot colour.

Placement of the label will vary when being laminated to the
corrugated substrate.  The above techniques attempt to compensate
for this movement as it relates to the structural design.

Supported platforms:
